Gameplay (2/5★)

Collect cards and slay bosses to progress the story! Basically, you just go from left to right until it’s boss time. At your disposal are “card attacks” and an infinite supply of ninja stars! Card attacks are based on whatever “cards” are assigned to your hand. You may have up to four cards in-hand — they are played sequentially, allowing you to take advantage of damage boosting “support cards”. New cards can be acquired as a random drop from enemies. Duplicates are converted into “remembrance spheres”, which are used to unlock lewd content.

Story (3/5★)

Arne is a young shinobi. Though she has been offered “drinks, fun, pleasure, and everything else” from Mister Mayor, she’d rather serve the public with her ninjutsu. When Arne isn’t stabbing goblins with ninjutsu, she spends time with her beloved brother, Kenji. One day, Arne’s best friend Sakura slips an aphrodisiacs into Kenji’s food. Sakura had good intentions, but little did she know Kenji was fed poison. While Arne went to retrieve medicine, her home was ransacked — and everyone, including Kenji were stolen! Unfortunately for the perpetrators, they failed to kidnap the women that could undo everything!

Visuals (2/5★)

The titlescreen is nicely arranged, but the animation is cheesy. Audio preferences can be adjusted from “Option”. Windows users may be able to borderless fullscreen the application by pressing “ALT” and “Enter” together — there does not appear to be a way to adjust display in-game. Sex-scenes, complete with dialogue can be viewed from “Scene”. The contents of the “Scene” must be purchased using “Recollection Spheres”, which are obtained in-game. The English translation is disappointing.

The Goods (3/5★)

There are twenty-one animated sex-scenes to unlock. Each scene is comprised of one or more base animations, with variations for climax and progression. Animations are tied to dialogue — though the user-interface can be hidden, viewing the fruits of your labor is rather tedious. If you’re not careful, your fap session may end abruptly! The artwork is decent, and so are the animations. . . although, I did find them choppy and somewhat exaggerated. If you lose any battles, it’s rape-o’-clock! However, if you like your sex with consent, the scenes tied to the story are actually kind of wholesome. . . sisterly love woot woot!

Verdict (2.5/5★)

Wait for an enormous sale. . . like eighty-percent off. NinjaGirlArune isn’t a bad game, but what little gameplay it offers is monotonous and unbalanced. Despite touting a “Skill Card System” with “a variety of cards”, I found myself only using two throughout the entire game. Between on-demand heals and “Dagger in Sakura”, not even the optional “EX” bosses stood a chance. The less-than-stellar English doesn’t owe to great storytelling, but you’re able to follow along. At the end of the day, NinjaGirlArune is a grossly overpriced sidescroller. . . but it’s worth a spot in your wishlist.
