Foreword

I wish I didn’t have to work in a kitchen the day it released; I took one look at this game and said I want to play this game, right now. While I would have liked to have seen more sexual content (especially of the main character), this was an great lewd experience. The artwork is honestly awesome, and I kind of hope the developer sells wallpapers via DLC — I’d buy them.

Gameplay

A basic point-n’-clicker with heavy visual novel portions. The gameplay is mostly linear, with little incentive to stray from the current objective. Your decisions will increase (or decrease) the protagonist’s “bitchiness”, which affects how characters will treat her later in the story, and what prompts you may select.

. . . yes, this is a game you can play one-handed!

Story

. . . in a nutshell

Monica is a wealthy, wealthy woman without a care in the world. . . other than money. She’s the epitome of spoiled brat, and she considers people to be disposable toys. Monica is the queen, and everybody else her subjects. But all good things must come to an end, and she ultimately finds her life crashing down upon her — the queen becomes a slave.

out the shell. . .

My playthrough of Fashion Business may differ from yours — what does/doesn’t happen to the protagonist and her lackeys is up to your decisions, and how you maintain her “bitchiness”.

With that in mind, let’s get into it!

Monica Bukkfett is a gold digger; she married a rich man, whom she exploits for his financial resources. She’s a control freak, and her narcissism is off the charts. She models for a fashion magazine (which she also owns); not only does it feed her ego, but it also turns an enormous profit. She treats her staff like parts of a machine; they are replaced on a regular basis, no matter how hard they try to appease her.

Gee, what a likable villain protagonist!

After her morning rituals, Monica returns to her bedroom to change her attire to a her beautiful dress — which is nowhere to be found. As she searches for her dress, Monica’s driver, Fred, extorts her maid Julia for her sexual services. Monica heads over to her office to man the phone. She learns that the lease on her building is in trouble, which could have disastrous results if the bills are not payed. She also receives a call from her lawyer friend, Dick.

What a lawyer name, am I right?

Dick wants to hang with Monica — and she agrees. On her way to his office, her car runs out of gas. She is forced to go inside the gas station when her credit card doesn’t work. She breaks a bottle of expensive wine, blames it on cashier, and makes her call her boss to give her fuel free of charge. Then it’s off to meet up with Dick at his office. He’s ecstatic to see her, and agrees to buy her clothes and lunch.

Wait a minute. . . is Dick a sugar daddy?

Eventually, Monica settles on a dress and Dick takes her to his favorite restaurant. After less-than-stellar service, she storms out to her car and sends Dick home. As Monica calls it a night, Fred is up to another scheme; he meets the gas station girl and offers her a job as a model for Monica. However, he needs to “appraise” her body, so he takes her to the bathroom and pretty much coerces her into stripping down and violates her everything.

Fred, what a guy. What a wholesome guy.

Monica pays a visit to a local gym for yoga lessons. One of her friends peeps on her in the locker room — this is the first time in the game you will get to see Monica’s nipples. Next stop is the bank, where she learns that there has been no transactions have been made regarding the lease. She decides to visit the man in charge of the lease, and ream him for his incompetence. They agree upon a (significantly reduced) price. Monica heads back to the clothing store to return her dress.

How cheap do you have to be to return a dress when you have one-hundred million dollars to your name?!

Unfortunately, Fred is unable to park in-front of the store, meaning that he has to park in a shady part of town. She manages to return the dress without getting mugged, although a homeless woman does lay down some heavy foreshadowing. She reminds Monica that nothing is forever, and that life as she knows it can change in the blink of an eye.

The next day, she receives a call from the police. Uh oh!

Officer Marcus requests that she visit the police station regarding “unpaid parking fines”. She is arrested on site, and interrogated by him. He explains to Monica that she is not an American citizen — she is an illegal alien. When she married her husband, he had her citizenship forged by criminal connections, which have since been rendered null. To make matters worse, she is no longer a citizen of her home country, due to their prohibition on duel citizenship. Because her name is registered to her husband’s criminally funded organizations, she is at the mercy of the law, and without citizenship she has no rights.

In other words, Monica is royally fucked — and I’ll leave the rest of the story for you to find out.

Visuals

I found the titlescreen to be a cluttered eye sore. The UI appears to have been splattered over a distracting backdrop. Your choice of language and resolution can be adjusted from the titlemenu. Otherwise, you may adjust audio and gameplay settings from the “Preferences” menu. The “Walkthrough” button will open a website on your favorite browser; while I appreciate the free guide, I find the act of going online to view said guide both fishy (especially when the site is insecure) and unprofessional. I would have rather been prompted to open a .PDF file, or to be able to read the guide in-game. “New Episodes” will take you to the developer’s personal site.

Overall, I was not a fan of how many buttons led to outside platforms without the “padlock” I know and trust.

Fashion Business employs 3D models, much like those of Daz Studio or Poser to illustrate scenes. The renders are generally very high quality, lacking the grain or noise that result from hastily processed images. I was honestly impressed by how clean each render was; it made me reflect on methods I could employ to improve my own 3D renders. However, I did notice a few visual aberrations (such as white pixels) which should have been removed during post editing.

The Goods

There are tons of sexy CGs to see, mostly of characters other than the main protagonist. Sexual CGs involving her are few and far between, and it takes ages just to see her chest. Sex scenes are rendered using a boat load of animated or static CGs, often showing many angles and progression. The animation is decent, but not noteworthy. The sexual content is a combination of coercion and consensual intercourse, mostly the former.

. . . expect female-on-female humiliation and male-on-female sexual content.

Verdict

I definitely recommend this game. The quality and sheer quantity of artwork is phenomenal. As bitchy as the protagonist is, I find her both attractive and likeable — yeah I know I have a bad taste in women. I always wanted to know what happened next, and I am eager to see future episodes of Fashion Business.

User-interface

While the text box can be hidden, the bottom toolbar cannot be removed from the screen: I would like to be able to hide all of the interface.
