Foreword
For the purposes of this review, I will not be discussing the unpatched version of this game.
Gameplay: overview (3/5★)
Manipulate “pins” to crush enemies and guide through traps! Or as Adorable Games puts it, “This is a casual strategy game, how to avoid the devil and guide the direction of the water droplets is the key to clear the game” — and “The game requires the player to guide the water to drop on the seed by removing the pins in the scene to ensure that seeds grow and obtained by the character.” The goal of each level is to grow a flower (with water), which must be collected by (or transported to) the player character. If any water touches an enemy (or “the devil” I guess), it turns to poison (and poison kills plants!) By manipulating single-use gates, you’re able to maneuver water, poison and traps where they need to go. It’s like those mobile game ads with that one spikey-haired “hero” and his treasure — while this game is just as brain-dead (in terms of difficulty), at least it comes with a busty witch and assorted sex-scenes!
Sexual Content: overview (5/5★)
There are eight animated, interactive CGs with variations for undress, progression, and climax. Adorable Games takes their adult content very seriously! The artwork and animation are awesome. Animation errors are few and far between (all I saw were a few jelly-like movements). The protagonist finds herself in a variety of sexual situations, with all sorts of outfits (“cosplay” may be an appropriate word). Unfortunately, the artwork has little to do with the “story” or theme. There’s a combination of modern and fantasy-themed content, which includes assorted rape situations with tanned dudes and gooey tentacles! By mashing the “space” key, you’re able to progress each scene to climax. After doing so, you’re able to use on-screen buttons to adjust the speed of animation and toggle climaxes. There’s a lot of options to selectively undress the protagonist (or in some cases, choose between one or two positions!)
Story: overview (1/5★)
There is no story (and I’m not making one up!)
Sound: overview (NA/5★)
I played this game muted. I won’t be judging it based on sound.
Visuals: overview (4/5★)
The first titlescreen is unnecessary. The artwork is great, but it’s clearly cropped. I think the artwork should be uncropped, or the screen as a whole dropped. The second titlescreen is more what’d I’d expect — it features uncropped artwork, and a beautifully rendered main-menu. Unlocked sex-scenes can be played from the “Album”. When viewing CGs, the user-interface can nearly be hidden (only dialogue boxes remain). Audio and display preferences can be adjusted from “Options”. I loved the visual aesthetic of the game! I wish there were more animations and variety (but I considering the length of the game, I guess it would have been wasted).
Verdict: needs better puzzles, butt great lewds (3/5★)
Adorable Witch is a mediocre game with great artwork — it’s worth it for the lewds alone. However, as a fun and challenging puzzle game it fails. Fifteen minutes of gameplay is unacceptable for a two-dollar game. Going by the Steam Achievements, there’s a “cheat” button I missed — if there’s a cheat button, there isn’t any reason not to offer difficult content. Half-way through the game, I felt as though the developers gave up. Though the first half of the game was super-easy, it took some timing and thought to progress. At some point, it just figuring out which “pins” were red herrings or not. As erotic as the artwork is, I recommend waiting for a sale.
